ACDSee Does Not Support 3rd Party Plugins

I am very sad to say that my research into the 3rd party plugins I could use within ACDSee Pro 3.0 (their latest, top of the line product – which I like) turned up very very bad news.

Here is my inquiry to ACDSee and their response:

I am very interested in purchasing the Topaz InFocus plugin which states it is compatible with any product that supports Adobe-style plugins. Those products include “Paint Shop Pro, Irfanview, etc” Does that also include ACDSee Pro? Please advise. Here is the link to the product. http://www.topazlabs.com/infocus/#6

Please note I would appreciate a quick reply since this is on sale only for a couple more days. Thanks

Hello Ross,

Thank you for contacting ACD Systems Customer Support.

At this time, the ACDSee does not support 3rd party plugins such as the Topaz InFocus ( which looks great, by the way)  or those from Adobe or other companies.
We truly regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Unfortunately, this means that all Adobe plugins will not work in any ACDSee product for now which is a total and utter surprise since Paint Shop Pro (of all programs) does allow that extensibility!!

So, I guess this means I will have to keep my copy of Photoshop up to date (too expensive!!) in order to use cutting edge image editing plugins like the ones provided by Topaz Labs or Alien Skin.
